Borated Polyethylene Shielding for Neutron RadiationBorated Polyethylene: a boronated plastic material used for neutron shielding. Borated Polyethylene is available 4'x8' sheets at 5% boron content. Available thicknesses include one inch, two inch and three inch. The table below lists common thicknesses, sizes with prices.
Our borated polyethylene features high cross-sectioning for consistent neutron attenuation. Borated polyethylene is commonly used in naval vessels, radiation oncology, medical vaults, doors for linear particle accelerators, research applications, nuclear reactors and construction of nuclear-powered vessels.
Borated Polyethylene can be cut, machined, drilled, or tapped as with pure polyethylene. The green 1" x 4' x 8' material is first choice for most applications. All sheets sold, full size. Cutting is an extra charge.
Our Borated Polyethylene comes in three sizes: 1" x 4' x 8', 2"x4'x8', 3"x4'x8'. Each 1" x 4' x 8' sheet weighs 165 lbs. Skid used for shipping weighs approximately 150 lbs. and is 4'6" x 8'6" x 5' high.
