Gamma and X-ray radiation shielding, which includes lead bricks, utilizes lead as a form of radiation protection to shield personnel from nuclear radiation. These bricks can effectively attenuate certain kinds of radiation because of its high density and high atomic number. Before you purchase lead shielding, it is important to know that it is not effective against all types of radiation. High energy electrons (including beta radiation) incident on lead bricks may create bremsstrahlung radiation, which is potentially more dangerous to tissue than the original radiation.
